File Creation
Creating a New File
Tencent Design supports two ways to create files:
Create in Drafts
- Go to the workspace and click 「Drafts」 in the left sidebar
- Click 「New File」 or the
+icon in the empty area - The file is saved to your personal drafts, visible only to you
Create within a Project
- Navigate to the target project
- Click 「New File」
- The file belongs to the project, accessible by project members based on their permissions
Tip: Use drafts for personal exploration and work in progress. Move to a project once the design is ready for team review.
Naming and Thumbnail
- Double-click the file title to rename it
- The thumbnail is automatically generated from the first Frame in the file
- You can manually refresh the thumbnail by right-clicking the file card
- Use 「Move」 to transfer a draft to a project
Managing Pages
A single file can contain multiple pages, useful for organizing different flows or design versions.
How to manage pages:
- Click 「+」 at the top of the layers panel to add a new page
- Double-click a page name to rename it
- Right-click a page to duplicate, delete, or reorder it
Component System
Main Component
Main components are the foundation of a design system. Changes to the main component automatically propagate to all instances.
To create a component: select a layer → right-click → 「Create Component」, or use Cmd/Ctrl + Alt + K
Component Set
Group related variants into a component set to manage different states of the same component (e.g., Default/Hover/Disabled states of a button).
Instance
Drag or copy from a main component to get an instance. You can override individual properties, or use 「Reset to Main Component」 to revert overrides.
Auto Layout
Auto Layout automatically arranges child elements within a Frame:
- Set direction: Horizontal / Vertical / Wrap
- Set spacing: Gap between elements, padding
- Children can be set to 「Fill container」 or 「Fixed size」
Select a Frame and click 「+」 in the right properties panel to add Auto Layout.
Version History
Tencent Design auto-saves every edit, and also supports manually creating named versions.
View version history:
Top menu → 「File」 → 「Version History」 — the right panel shows all records; click to preview and restore.
Save a named version:
Cmd/Ctrl + Alt + S or top menu → 「Save Version」 to name and preserve the current state.
